I take this opportunity to wish all our stakeholders a very happy new year! We at SJ Contracts are keenly looking forward to more milestones along with everyone this year. The last quarter has significantly shaped our evolution as a service provider and I credit our focus on qualitative growth in cohesion with our growth in volumes.
Keeping the spirit of constant evolution alive, SJ Contracts has worked on upskilling itself in the recent past. As a result, we have started offering a larger spectrum of services offered. We have successfully delivered a few turnkey projects in the past. Going ahead, we will be taking up more of such turnkey projects.

Achievement
Diligence and efficiency go hand in hand in ascertaining on-time delivery of a project. Secondly, recognising the client’s requirement and being in sync with it drive our goal. In the last quarter, we outdid ourselves at our Adreno Towers project at the Amanora Park Town. The project team delivered a whopping 3.4 lacs built up area which included working with 17034 m3 of concrete and 1.32 lacs sq.m of formwork; all in three months!
The SJCPL team did brilliantly well in the micro planning of all activities. Effective communication across support departments ensured a seamless supply of materials and labour resources. The site team was able to deliver maximum output while keeping quality and safety in check.
We received immense co-operation and support from the client engineering team. To ensure that we meet the scheduled slab cycles, the client team offered site checking facility almost round the clock. All in all, it was a great team effort from the SJCPL as well as the Amanora project team.
SJ Contracts has a large sub-contracted labour force working across various projects.
It is common to see that a husband and wife are both working as skilled or unskilled labor at many SJCPL sites. In such cases, even their children stay with them at the labor camp accommodations provided by us. The children normally stay with their parents until about the age of twelve after which they are sent back to their native villages to attend a school or to help with agriculture.
Understanding the importance of giving intermittent attention to such children, we have established creches across various sites. With the help of certain local NGOs in Pune, we are facilitating these creches and daycare centers.
Caretakers, teachers and meal services for the children are some of the main amenities we have provided at these creches. The creches organize various educational and extra-curricular activities to keep the children engaged.
In Diwali, as a part of our company’s CSR Initiative, we decided to light up the lives of the children at ANIKET Sevabhavi Sanstha. ANIKET is an organisation run by a group of people who work tirelessly towards sheltering differently abled children/ special children and adults who are mentally challenged for life. We’re constantly doing our bit to help these children who the society resists to accept and love normally.
Over 800 SJCPL employees participated in the @PRBM Pune Running Marathon on Sunday, 18th November 2018! The culture of participation, sport and team spirit has been pleasantly growing in the company over the last few years. Along with the overwhelming response of employees who participated, what was also special was the cause we ran for. A part of our registration proceeds was donated to the Muskaan – Foundation for Child Protection.
RMC (Ready Mix Concrete) is an integral and major material in the construction process. A quality source of supply along with reliability is key in ensuring the continuity of project work. Over the last few years, we have established six RMC plants across Pune. These plants are strategically located at various locations across the city to ensure speedy delivery of RMC to all our projects.
Manufacturing our own RMC has a host of advantages that help us align better with the project requirements. Full quality control, tailoring the mix designs to befit the project, and flexibility in the logistics of time and supply give us a free hand in planning or execution process. Currently, almost 95% of RMC used by us is self-manufactured.
Developed by Panchshil Realty, this project is a part of the EON Free Zone Campus in Kharadi. Awarded to us in March 2016 by Panchshil Realty, the project was a challenging task with 1.5 million sqft shell work to be completed in a period of 14 months. The floor plate of the building was 60000 sqft with 26 elevators and 4 stair blocks. The project required a high level of mechanization to be deployed for all activities.
Major equipment deployed
- 120,000 sqft of Aluminum Frame Table Formwork which was designed in-house
- 22,000 sqft Climbing Formwork system from Peri for all lift cores
- Two Liebherr Tower Cranes
- Two Schwing Stetter Concrete Placer Booms
- A 45 cum/hr concrete plant on site
The deployment of this equipment enabled us to accomplish this huge task of completing 1.5 million sqft only in a period of 14 months. At peak, we were able to achieve a slab cycle of 10 days and 5500 cum of concrete & 600 MT of rebar per month.
Our efforts towards achieving this milestone were also recognised by the Builders Association of India. We were awarded the ‘Well Equipped and Well Mechanised Site’ award for this project.
